Professional Contributions

As a counselor educator for 24 years, Ron Partin contributed to the professional development of over 1400 practicing counselors and thousands of teachers. He is the author of numerous articles on time management, decision making, classroom management, stress, counseling, and effective teaching. Co-author of Classroom Management, a nationally distributed course on teacher improvement and classroom management, completed by over 50,000 teachers. Author of The Social Studies Teachers Survival Kit, The Social Studies Teachers Book of Lists, The Classroom Teacher's Survival Guide (also avalialble in Spanish), and The Prentice Hall Directory of Online Social Studies Resources. Ron is also the editor of The Heart of Teaching, a national newsletter for teachers.

Known for his relaxed, fun, interactive style, Ron has presented over 400 workshops, retreats, and professional seminars on effective use of school time, creative problem solving, team building, planning and goal setting, helping skills, classroom management, and stress management to personnel from schools, hospitals, social service agencies and businesses. Ron has served as consultant to over 200 schools, particularly in the area of contingency improvement planning.

For over 25 years, Ron Partin has served as a research consultant with Performance Learning Systems®, which has designed and provided high quality graduate courses to over a half million teachers. Ron continually updates the research reviews supporting sixteen of these courses. For many years he was editor of their newsletter, The Heart of Teaching.

Ron has been honored by the Ohio Counseling Association for exemplary leadership to the counseling profession and for long and distinguished service to the counseling profession [makes him sound like an old guy!].
